Discover the intersection of craft rum and the world of fine wine. Brix Rum and Brokenwood Wines join forces one night of distinctly Australian drinks.
Set in the acclaimed Sydney wine bar, Fix, the night will showcase a selection of curated Brix Australian Rums, including a very special release: the fifth iteration in the Select Cask Series, a five-year-old Australian Rum aged in a single barrel that previously held Brokenwood's award-winning 2017 Graveyard Shiraz. Each guest will also taste exquisite benchmark wines from this iconic Hunter Valley vineyard.
Hosted by Brix Co-Founder, James Christopher, and Brokenwood CEO, Geoff Krieger, this is an intimate opportunity to explore the shared passion behind two distinctly Australian brands.

Born in Surry Hills, amongst Sydney’s vibrant creative hub, Brix Distillers is an award-winning urban distillery on a mission to reinvent Australian Rum. Handcrafted through small-batch production, Brix uses only the highest quality ingredients, sourcing native or local whenever possible, and the finest barrels to create their well-rounded and complex range of Rums.
Since the start of our journey to Reinvent Australian Rum, Brix has adhered to a specific barrel policy partnering with local producers to upcycle casks that have previously held Australian wine, beer and spirits.
Hailing from the Hunter Valley, Brokenwood creates some of the country's most iconic wines. The Brokenwood team has been fantastic partners to Brix, supplying premium casks, including a single Pinot Gris and Graveyard Shiraz barrel that created two spectacular rums in the Brix Select Cask Series: #003 Pinot Gris Cask and #005 Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz Cask.

BRIX SELECT CASK SERIES, BROKENWOOD GRAVEYARD SHIRAZ CASK
Select Cask #005 spent five years patiently aging in a single French Oak barrel that previously held Brokenwood Wine's award-winning 2017 Graveyard Shiraz. This careful maturation resulted in a Rum with deliciously deep layers of black cherry, licorice, cocoa, honey, and rose petals with a lingering note of candied orange on the finish.
This special drop represents our most mature Australian Rum to date and marks a significant milestone for our team. We could not be more proud to be releasing it alongside one of Australia’s most acclaimed wineries.
With only 309 bottles available, this extremely rare release is a collector’s dream.
BRIX SELECT CASK SERIES, PINOT GRIS CASK
We have worked closely with our winemaker friends at Brokenwood Wines to source the best quality casks available for maturing our Pinot Gris Cask Release.
For the first time, we are releasing a cask strength Rum that has been matured in a single French Oak ex-pinot gris barrel from Brokenwood Wines in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The influence from this barrel has allowed the rum to reflect a bold & unique profile, with our signature full bodied mouth feel & rich, inviting aroma. This Rum has been bottled at cask strength, to retain the perfect state we have matured to.

The crown jewel of our Core Range, Brix Australian Rum is crafted from premium Australian molasses and carefully aged for two years in Brokenwood red wine barrels to create bold aromas of red fruits & oak with a lingering finish of vanilla, stone fruit & spices.
This delicious drop picked up the gong for Best Australian Rum at the 2023 Tasting Australia Spirit awards.
